With an eye toward building a greater presence in the golf market, an affiliate company of private equity firm Sun Capital Partners acquired Edwin Watts Golf Shops on May 25. The Fort Walton Beach, FL-based merchant sells golf clubs, bags, balls, and training aids through catalogs, the Internet, and 66 stores in the southern, southeastern, and northeastern U.S.
In a statement, founder Edwin Watts said Sun Capital has “the requisite financial resources and deep retail experience to help strengthen our operations and build out our footprint in suitable locations.”
