Fort Lauderdale, FL—It’s a brave company that launches a print consumer catalog in this economy environment. The Sports Authority, a $1.5 billion sporting goods retailer, is one such company. On Oct. 9 it mailed the debut issue of its catalog to an undisclosed number of names, most of them prospects. Global Sports, a PA-based third-party fulfillment company and developer of e-commerce businesses, is processing the orders. Global also handles fulfillment of The Sports Authority’s Internet business. As part of the catalog launch, The Sports Authority is testing interactive kiosks in a small number of its nearly 200 stores in more than 30 states.
