Women’s Apparel Names Shrink

The Women’s Apparel Catalog Market universe decreased 4.2%, or 1.4 million names, in the past year. According to list brokerage services firm ParadyszMatera, the segment shrank from 31.5 million names in the third quarter of 2007 to 30.1 million names in the third quarter of 2008.

Contributing to the overall loss is the fact that Coldwater Creek’s master file is down about 569,000 names and Newport News is down about 399,000 names.

Lingerie mailer Victoria’s Secret continues to lead the pack with nearly 6.6 million names, followed by J.C. Penney Women’s Apparel & Accessories Buyers, Woman Within Catalog Buyers, Chadwick’s and Newport News.
