Being a teenage girl is hard enough, but for those with less-than-perfect bodies, the teen years can be especially brutal. And the depictions of skinny, perfect teens in movies, on TV, and in magazines do little to boost teenage self-esteem.
But teen girls’ apparel cataloger Girlfriends L.A.’s tag line says it offers “fashions for all sizes” – and it does. The spring 2000 edition of the catalog features young women of all shapes, sizes, and ethnicities modeling clothing that’s all the rage. Sure, most of the models are skinny and beautiful, but not all. Our favorite spread features a plus-size model decked outfor the prom in a lilac sequined tube top with a long black moirA skirt. It may sound like a tricky outfit to carry off, even for a teen queen with the best body, but we think she looks absolutely fabulous!
