3 Tips for Improving Your Operations Processes

Anthony Vicars, vice president of operations for apparel merchant Nasty Gal, offers three tips to improve your operations processes.

Consider serializing your entire inventory, Vicars says. “That might sound crazy, but the gains in returns productivity, inventory accuracy and additional flexibility in your outbound operations are priceless.”

Don’t overcomplicate processes that bog down team members and lower the capacity of your operation. Specialization often leads to a higher production and productivity.

If new hires cannot be at least 70% efficient in your process (picking, receiving, etc.), then change it. “Jobs within the fulfillment center should be as simple as possible. You’ll definitely reap the benefits when peak season rolls around.”

If you want to know more, Anthony will be speaking on this topic at the Operations Summit in Memphis May 2-3. For more information, go to www.operationssummit.com.
