Volvo has opened a new 1-million-square-foot distribution center in Byhalia, MI, closing a smaller hub in Memphis and consolidating in the larger building.

JM Smucker Co. is planning to occupy a 1-million-square-foot distribution center outside Atlanta, just across I-85 from the company’s current 600,000-square-foot facility.

Rite Aid is building a $90 million, 900,000-square-foot distribution center in Spartanburg, SC., consolidating three existing DCs into the new facility.

Charleston, SC officials have approved spending up to $500,000 on public infrastructure for a 1.5-million-square-foot distribution center being sought by Dollar Tree. It would be the 11th and the largest DC for the company.

A Boston-based real estate investment company has purchased a 260,000-square-foot Bon-Ton distribution center in Fairborn, OH for $9.1 million, which the fashion retailer will continue to operate. When a new Bon-Ton DC opens in nearby West Jefferson, OH, 50 of the 180 positions will be eliminated.

FedEx Ground will build a 200,000-square-foot distribution center in Staunton, VA, which is scheduled for completion in July 2016.

Ferguson Enterprises Inc., the nation’s largest plumbing supply wholesaler, is nearing completion of a $60 million, 460,000-square-foot distribution center in ion in Coxsackie, NY. The Newport News, VA-based company will start stocking the warehouse in mid-summer and begin shipping products in early fall, an official said.

Promotional upholstery producer United Furniture Industries has acquired the former Lane Furniture distribution center in Wren, MI. The 500,000-square-foot DC represents the company’s second expansion in Mississippi in the past year, and will allow it to expand manufacturing operations at three of its existing factories in the state.

A U.S. Bankruptcy Court judge in Delaware has approved RadioShack’s sale of a distribution center in Hagerstown, MD, for $11.4 million, and one each in Woodland, CA and Fort Worth, TX for a combined $39.3 million.
