For operations leaders, employee engagement is crucial.

“Operations leaders have to stay close to their employees to optimize performance,” Embrey says. “Now is the time to be talking with line level employees. People’s jobs mean everything to them and they can and will help us perform better. But we have to ask and we have to listen.”

The economic downturn has certainly impacted operations, but “we must do more with less, do it today, and ship it for free,” Embrey says. “We have to put the fear to the side and act – and involve our employees.”

If you want to know more, Anne will be speaking on this topic at the Operations Summit in Memphis on May 2-3. For more information, go to http://www.operationssummit.com/.
