amazon-locker-150Amazon.com lockers were removed from both Staples Inc. and RadioShack Corp., after a 1-year program, according to Bloomberg.

The lockers allowed consumers, especially those living in apartments to avoid having to be home or risking the package would be stolen if it was dropped off in a doorstep or hallway, according to Bloomberg.

Demos Parneros, president of North American stores and online for Staples, told Bloomberg  the chain ended its test with Amazon when, “It didn’t meet the criteria we set up together.”

RadioShack stopped because it didn’t fit with its strategy,  Merianne Roth, spokesperson for RadioShack, told Bloomberg.

According to Amazon, lockers are currently provided at select 7-Eleven,  Dunkin Donuts, Rite-Aid and Ace Hardware locations.
