Edison, NJ-based cataloger Dr. Leonard’s Healthcare Corp. has appointed Thomas W. McIntyre president/CEO. McIntyre succeeds Bruce E. Taylor, senior managing director of Cortec Group, who had served as interim CEO following the retirement of longtime president Stephen L. Brotman. McIntyre was most recently executive vice president/chief financial officer of BMG Entertainment.

South Whitley, IN-based party supplier Stumps has named has named Mark Taliani vice president of merchandising. Previously, Taliani was general merchandise manager for Lillian Vernon Corp.

School Specialty, a multititle mailer of educational supplies based in Greenville, WI, has hired Stephan Christiansen for the newly created position of president, specialty companies. Christiansen was previously an executive with Kimberly-Clark Corp. And James Burgraff has joined School Specialty as vice president of marketing. He had been senior channel manager, schools for The Coca-Cola Co.

Framingham, MA-based office supplies marketer Staples has appointed Robert Mayerson senior vice president/treasurer, responsible for developing Staples’ financial, tax, and risk management strategies. Previously, Mayerson was chief financial officer of Tilion.

Bangor, ME-based cataloger Nyer Medical Group has appointed director and committee member James J. Schweiger chairman of the independent audit committee and elected John M. Milledge to its board of directors. Milledge was also appointed by the board to serve on Nyer’s independent audit committee.

Des Moines-based mass media company Meredith Corp. has named Barbara Standish general manager of consumer product sales. Standish, formerly general manager/vice president of marketing and creativity for Good Catalog/, will manage the direct-to-consumer product sales team and will be responsible for generating product sales in Better Homes and Gardens, Ladies’ Home Journal, and Better Homes and Gardens magazines, and on the Garden Shed Website.

Montreal-based commercial printer Quebecor World has appointed Michel Desbiens to the newly created position of CEO, international operations. Desbiens will be responsible for the performance and development of all Quebecor World operations outside of North America. Previously, Desbiens was president/CEO of Donohue.

The Los Angeles Direct Marketing Association (LADMA) has named Leon Potasinski its newest board member. Potasinski will chair the public relations activities for the LADMA and will be responsible for promoting the organization’s activities and benefits and driving membership and participation. Potasinski is a senior vice president for La Agencia de Orcí & Asociados.

The Association for Interactive Marketing (AIM), a subsidiary of the New York-based Direct Marketing Association, has named Kevin Noonan executive director. Noonan had been group vice president of the Internet and media research area at The Yankee Group.

Digital marketing services provider Avenue A/NYC, a unit of Seattle-based Avenue A, has named Ritesh Patel vice president/general manager of client services. Patel was previously head of’s New York office.

Vienna, VA-based Web marketing services provider Entigo has appointed Stephen M. Layne chairman/CEO. Layne was most recently chairman/CEO of United Messaging, which he’d also founded.
