New York-based jewelry and gifts cataloger/retailer Tiffany & Co. appointed Jon M. King senior vice president-merchandising. King, previously Tiffany group vice president, will be responsible for the company’s demand management, category management/assortment planning, and product design.

San Francisco-based The Gap hired Tony Lenk as president of Gap Direct, the apparel retailer’s online division. The founder/CEO of now-defunct eToys, Lenk will oversee the online businesses of The Gap, Banana Republic, and Old Navy brands, as well as the company’s customer call center and online distribution operations.

Plano, TX-based cataloger/retailer J.C. Penney Corp. has promoted Mike Boylson to executive vice president/chief marketing officer. Boylson, formerly Penney’s vice president/director of marketing planning, and promotions, was selected in 1999 to serve on the strategic task force that implemented the company’s centralization. Boylson succeeds John Budd, who joined Penney in 2001, and is now retiring.

New York-based paper manufacturer Gould Paper Corp. appointed Peter Hopkinson sales vice president, Midwest. Hopkinson was previously regional account manager with Great Northern Paper; he will now be responsible for Gould’s sales operations in its Chicago office.

New York-based manufacturer/marketer Sure Fit Slipcovers has appointed Michael Lauri vice president of sales and David Spain director of sales and marketing. Lauri was previously director of sales at Travelpro. Spain had been vice president of sales and marketing at Sara Lee. In other company news, Sure Fit has promoted Sheetal Gosalia from merchandising product manager to import development manager.

Scarsdale, NY-based insert and list management and brokerage firm Singer Direct appointed Nick Schellong senior account executive. Schellong was previously director of list management at 21st Century.

Hackensack, NJ-based list management and brokerage company Mokrynski & Associates promoted Dean Barile from sales executive with the alternative response media (ARM) division to vice president of the division. The company also promoted John Toscano from list management sales representative to sales executive, ARM. New to the company are Kerri Obojkovits and Jody Smith. Obojkovits, previously a sales executive with Plus Media, and Smith, previously an account executive at Walter Karl, will serve as sales executives for the division.

Grafton, VT-based presentation technology product cataloger Communication Industries Corp. promoted Paul Dahm to advertising/creative supervisor. He had been desktop publishing/catalog assistant.

Pewaukee, WI-based Quad/Graphics appointed Betty Quadracci, cofounder of the company, to its board of directors. She will continue in her dual roles as president of the Quad/Creative Group and publisher of Milwaukee magazine.

New York-based marketing communications company Wunderman appointed David Sable vice chairman/president of international operations. Sable, previously president/CEO of Wunderman’s New York office, will provide strategic counsel to the company’s global clients. Barry Kessel, who has been leading Wunderman’s global IBM account, was named president/managing director of the New York office, succeeding Sable.

Cincinnati-based marketing support provider Aero Fulfillment has promoted Jennifer Kendall to vice president of finance. Previously Aero’s director of finance, Kendall will be responsible for the financial management of Aero’s Mason, OH; Lebanon, OH, and Baltimore locations, as well as for all of the company’s future offices.

Peabody, MA-based PCS List & Information Technologies has promoted Thomasina Balabon from customer service/marketing to service executive/list management. The company also promoted Kristel Bruinsma from list sales executive to list manager. She will be responsible for acquiring new files to be managed by PCS.

Oakhurst, NJ-based list/alternative media company Action Markets appointed John Ahern sales manager. Ahern, previously associate director of list and alternative media at BMG Music Service, will be responsible for the management of the existing Musical Heritage Society and Jazz Heritage Society programs as well as the development of new products and services.

Hillsborough, NJ-based direct market consultancy Clear Thinking Group named Darrell Meussner principal/managing director. Meussner, previously vice president of distribution and logistics for Barnes & Noble, will work directly with clients.

Englewood, CO-based commercial printing provider Mail-Well elected Thomas E. Costello, Martin Maloney, David Olivier, and Susan Rheney to its board of directors. Costello is the retired CEO of International Paper subsidiary Xpedx; Maloney is chairman/cofounder of graphic arts public relations firm Broadford & Maloney; Olivier is retired senior vice president of pharmaceutical company Wyeth Corp.; and Rheney is a former principal of investment banking firm The Sterling Group.

Quincy, MA-based strategic marketing firm Nova Marketing named Gregory Jones vice president of marketing. Jones, who had been chief marketing officer for Circuit City Stores, Payless Shoe Source, Hills Stores, and Today’s Man, will oversee the firm’s brand development and business strategy.

Bethel, CT-based list management/brokerage List Services Corp. appointed Stephen Fishman vice president, list brokerage. Fishman was previously president of Direct Marketing Concepts, a marketing consulting firm. He will be responsible for overseeing the work of LSC’s list brokers.

Alexandria, VA-based nonprofit association Color Marketing Group appointed Allen Ferrell president. During his two-year term, which began in January, Ferrell will be responsible for meeting with members internationally and presiding at the organization’s spring conference in Hollywood, FL. Ferrell is currently color, style, and market trends manager at Denver-based NorthPole USA, a manufacturer of private-label traveling and camping products.

Peterborough, NH-based list management/brokerage firm Millard Group promoted Meg Garabrant from account executive in its alternative media division to account manager in AM/Direct.

David Knauer, president of Madison, WI-based Madison International Sales Co., was elected chairman of the SC Council, an international association of paper manufacturers. Knauer, who succeeds Mark Cassidy of Norske Skog, will hold the honorary position for two years.

Montreal-based commercial printer Quebecor World appointed David Boles CEO of Quebecor World North America. He was previously co-chief operating officer, Quebecor World North America. The company also announced that Michel Desbiens resigned as president/CEO, and Jean Neveu will replace him on an interim basis. Neveu was president/CEO of Quebecor World from 1989 until 1997, and chairman of the board from 1989 until 2002.

Costa Mesa, CA-based business solutions provider Experian named Craig Smith chairman of Experian Worldwide. Smith, previously CEO of Experian North America, will now oversee the company’s international operations.

Menasha, WI-based printing and supply-chain management provider Banta Book Group appointed Gregory Iott market sector vice president. Iott was previously vice president of business development with 4Imprint, a direct marketer of specialty and imprinted promotional materials. He will focus on Banta’s manufacturing, wholesale, retail, and services markets.

South Orange, NJ-based Scheer Advertising Group/Norman J. Stevens Advertising Agency named Anthony Grasso production/traffic manager. Grasso, previously an executive at Cendent Corp. and DKB & Partners, will work directly with clients at Sheer/Stevens, providing expertise in traditional and electronic production and marketing.

St. Paul, MN-based direct marketing services provider PrimeNet Marketing Services has made three new appointments: Brian Jacobson, Dave Krypel, and Mike Ryman were named business development executives. Jacobson was previously a sales executive at CheetahMail; Krypel had been general manager at Pioneer Plastic; and Ryman was previously director of sales and marketing at Holmberg Co.

Bethel, CT-based list management/brokerage List Services Corp. promoted Robert Balancia from marketing manager of the list division to senior director account management of interactive marketing. Jeremy Siegel was promoted from director of the international list management division to marketing manager of the list division.

Peterborough, NH-based list management/brokerage Millard Group appointed Mary Ellen McGarry as account director in list management. McGarry was previously an executive at Experian.
