San Francisco-based gifts cataloger RedEnvelope appointed Michael Moritz chairman of the board. Moritz is a partner of Sequoia Capital and is a director of several companies. Former chairman of the board Hilary Billings remains a member of the board of directors. Billings is also chief marketing officer for the company.

Quincy, MA-based women’s apparel cataloger/retailer The J. Jill Group appointed Stephen Pearson senior vice president of sourcing and product integrity. Pearson had been executive vice president of business/product development for Freeborders.

New York-based nonprofit Association for Interactive Marketing (AIM) named the new cochairs of its Search Engine Marketing Council: Amanda Watlington, Ph.D., director of research, iProspect, and Heather Lloyd-Martin, president of SuccessWorks. Watlington is responsible for developing language-based analytic tools that support iProspect’s proprietary search engine processes, and Lloyd-Martin specializes in search marketing consulting and training. AIM is a subsidiary of the Direct Marketing Association.

New Albany, OH-based girls’ apparel cataloger/retailer Too promoted Lece Lohr to senior vice president/general merchandise manager of sportswear. Previously senior vice president for active sportswear, Lohr will be responsible for active sportwear design and merchandising.

Chicago-based marketing services provider The Jay Group hired Kelley Rutherford as account executive. Rutherford, previously assistant account executive with Brierley & Partners, will be responsible for marketing program management and consulting services.

Rye, NY-based list firm Lake Group Media has named Chris Nason sales manager of Lake Interactive’s e-mail division. Nason was previously a senior account manager with Newspaper Partners. In addition, Ethan Simblist was promoted from sales manager to sales director of Lake Interactive’s e-mail list management division. He will manage the e-mail list sales team.

Scarsdale, NY-based list firm Singer Direct promoted Donna Malavolta from senior account executive to director of alternative media. Diane Civitano was also promoted, from senior account executive to director of alternative media, and Desiree Narciso was promoted from senior account executive to director of multimedia.

Chicago-based advertising/marketing services agency Ambrosi appointed Dan Morrissey and Mark Pearson copresidents. Both had been executive vice-presidents of the company. Morrissey will continue to direct operations, production, and photography units at the agency, and Pearson will direct creative and account services.

New York-based paper manufacturer Gould Paper Corp. reappointed Gerry Chrisholm and Jeff Robertson to its national division sales team. Chrisholm had been the branch manager for the Gould National New England division from 1990 to 1999. Robertson was a salesman for Gould in that branch from 1994 to 1999. Before rejoining the company, both were with A.T. Clayton for four years.

Huntington Beach, CA-based printing/Web press manufacturer MAN Roland appointed Susan Klutnick western regional sales manager for Commercial Web, an arm of the company’s Web operations.
