Men’s apparel cataloger/retailer Jos. A. Bank Clothiers has promoted Frank Barbarino to divisional vice president of worldwide sourcing. The Hampstead, MD-based company also hired Robin Graham to replace Barbarino as divisional merchandise manager of suits and suit separates. And Thomas Teves has joined the company in the new position of vice president/general merchandise manager of sportswear and furnishings.
Karin Miller, former vice president, product development for cataloger Smith+Noble, has started her own consulting company. Long Beach, CA-based Karin Miller Merchandising specializes in product analysis, design, sourcing, and marketing. Miller, a chairholder in the Color Marketing Group and an active member of the Industrial Designers Society of America, has 18 years of product development experience.
Printer Quebecor World has named John Paloian and David Boles co-chief operating officers of Quebecor World North America. Paloian, who is president of the magazine/catalog division, will now oversee the commercial/direct group as well. Boles, president of the retail/Sunday magazines group, will assume responsibility for Que-Net Media, the book and directory divisions as well.
Merrimack, NH-based PC Connection, a $1.2 billion computer supplies cataloger, announced on Sept. 20 that president/chief operating officer Wayne Wilson plans to retire at the end of September. CEO Kenneth Koppel will take over Wilson’s role of president and will continue to oversee the company’s three sales subsidiaries, PC Connection Sales Corp., GovConnection, and MoreDirect, as well as all marketing functions. Chairman Patricia Gallup will resume the title of CEO overseeing the company’s service subsidiary, Merrimack Services, in addition to all corporate functions.
Food gifts marketer Omaha Steaks has promoted Vickie Hagen to vice president/general manager of the Omaha Steaks Creative Group, the company’s advertising, marketing, and public relations division. In another announcement, the Omaha, NE-based cataloger promoted Maggie Nelsen from database and circulation manager to director of database marketing.
San Raphael, CA-based catalog consulting firm Lenser announces that Kathy Revello has joined the company as a consulting partner. Revello will provide product sourcing, merchandise planning, and merchant training services. With more than 20 years of merchandising experience, Revello has worked for several catalogers including Panache, Good Catalog Co., and Gumps.
Greenwich, CT-based list firm Direct Media has hired Andre Marc and Esther Brown as business-to-business brokers. Marc and Brown, along with their assistant of eight years, Maryann Arnero are joining Direct Media from Statlistics.
Vernon Hills, IL-based cataloger CDW Government, a wholly owned subsidiary of CDW Computer Centers, has promoted Chris Rother to vice president responsible for leading the company’s inside sales forces targeting state and local and education markets. Rother, who was previously executive director, joined CDW in 1991 and was a member of the orignal team that launched CDW Government in 1998.
Chicago-based data company AMACAI announced that Michael McCarthy has joined the company as vice president of sales. McCarthy was most recently vice president of business development at Analytci.
