New York-based Return Path, a provider of e-mail change of address services, appointed Anita Absey vice president of sales. Before joining Return Path, Absey was director of client development for USADATA. She has also held senior sales management positions at DoubleClick and Acxiom Corp. In other company news, Return Path has formed a Customer Advisory Board, to be chaired by former Return Path vice president of sales Dave Paulus.
Natick, MA-based cross-channel commerce software provider CommercialWare has selected John Coskie as its new vice president of marketing and sales. Coskie, who has several years of experience in the technology sector, had worked at CommercialWare as vice president of sales and marketing from 1998 to 1999. Most recently, he acted as director of Eastern regional sales for Unica Technologies.
Indianapolis-based apparel and furnishings marketer Brylane has appointed Christophe Gaigneux executive vice president of the Special Sizes Apparel Group and Kevin Doyle executive vice president of merchandise support. Gaigneux, who had been apparel director in France at La Redoute, owned by Brylane’s parent company, Prinault Printemps Redoute, will be responsible for leading the product development initiatives for the Lane Bryant, Roaman’s, King Size, and Jessica London catalogs. Doyle, who will be responsible for updating and guiding the company’s direct merchandise supply chain, joined Brylane in 1975. Both Gaigneux and Doyle will serve on Brylane’s executive committee and will report to chairman/CEO Russell Stravitz.
South Deerfield, MA-based manufacturer/marketer Yankee Candle Co. appointed its CEO, Craig W. Rydin, to chairman of the board of directors. Rydin succeeds Michael J. Kittredge, the company’s founder, who resigned and has been appointed chairman emeritus of Yankee Candle. Rydin joined Yankee Candle as CEO in April 2001. The company also announced the appointment of Michael F. Hines to its board of directors and the company’s audit committee. Hines is chief financial officer/chief administrative officer at Dick’s Sporting Goods.
New York-based slipcover manufacturer/marketer Sure Fit made five appointments to its management team. Marisa Thalberg will serve in the newly created position of senior vice president of marketing and new business development. Thalberg was previously vice president of global advertising and production at Unilever Cosmetics International. Rick Platt has joined Sure Fit as senior vice president of sales. Platt was previously senior director of retail sales and marketing at the National Football League. Paula Neustat has been promoted to senior vice president of merchandising from vice president, merchandising. She will continue to lead product design and development for the company. Liz Mandracchia was promoted to senior vice president of marketing and brand development, from vice president, marketing. She will continue to be responsible for branding, focusing on retail marketing. Other new appointments include Jim Slusser as Web director of SureFit.com. Slusser had been vice president, general manager of Delias.com. Linda Schropp joined Sure Fit as vice president of design. She was previously design director of Arley Corp.
Vernon Hills, IL-based government/education technology products and services provider CDW Government named Max Peterson vice president of federal sales. Joining CDW-G after serving as vice president of public sector for Commerce One, Peterson has also held vice president positions at Government Technology Services and Semaphore.
Madison, ME-based paper manufacturer Madison Paper Industries has announced the retirement of Leroy J. Barry. After joining the company in 1994 as president/chief operating officer, Barry in 1995 advanced to president/CEO, the post he held until 2002, when he became senior adviser to the company during the transition to his successor, Russ Drechsel.
Charlottesville, VA-based consumer electronics cataloger Crutchfield Corp. named Lawrence Becker vice president of new media. Becker, who oversees Crutchfield.com, will now also be responsible for major branding initiatives. In addition, Crutchfield has hired Dave Mathews as chief operating officer. Mathews, who previously headed L.L. Bean.com, will oversee the firm’s daily operations and be involved in long-range planning.
New York-based color management firm Integrated Color Solutions has appointed Dan Caldwell as vice president, operations and Peyton Kay as vice president, sales and marketing. Caldwell has more than 20 years of experience in the prepress and graphics industry; he also cofounded Color Solutions. Kay has more than 16 years of experience leading sales and marketing organizations.
Columbus, OH-based retail/catalog research and strategy consulting firm Retail Forward appointed two new vice presidents to its management team. Dirk Defenbaugh has joined the company as vice president of business development, and Mandy Putnam will serve as vice president. Most recently, Defenbaugh was partner and chief development officer for Retail Planning Associates. Putnam has led many consulting projects with retail and consumer products companies and published articles on consumer trends and segmentation.
