The Direct Marketing Association announced that president/CEO Robert Wientzen will retire on July 1. An executive search committee consisting of current and former DMA board members has been formed to search for a replacement for Wientzen, who has served as president/CEO for the past eight years.

New York-based collaborative database services provider Prefer Network appointed Michael McGarry director of database marketing. McGarry was previously director of telemarketing and ancillary product marketing for Fingerhut Cos.

Auburn, WA-based computer reseller Zones appointed William Keiper to its board of directors. Keiper is chairman/CEO of Arrange Technology and managing director of Black Diamond Group.

New York-based Internet Alliance, a subsidiary of the Direct Marketing Association, promoted Emily Hackett from director of state policy issues for the organization to executive director.

St. Paul, MN-based direct marketing database provider PrimeNet Marketing hired Brent Field as an account executive. Field was previously member benefits manager at North American Membership Group.

Sussex, WI-based printing services provider Quad/Graphics named Richard Burke chairman of its board of directors. Burke was previously chairman/CEO of Trek Corp. Joel Quadracci was promoted from vice president of print sales to senior vice president of sales and administration, as well as named a member of the board. Quadracci will be responsible for directing all facets of sales and customer service for the company.

Lanham, MD-based information database marketing provider Merkle Direct Marketing appointed Pierre Charchaflian vice president, client management services. He will be responsible for overseeing database marketing strategy and program execution for Merkle's catalog and retail accounts.

Emeryville, CA-based cataloger/retailer Peet's Coffee & Tea named Jean-Michel Valette chairman of its board of directors. Valette is an independent adviser to branded consumer companies and a board member of The Boston Beer Co., Golden State Vintners, and Select Comfort. He has been a member of Peet's board since 2001.
