Personal Creations Parent Buys Bankrupt Silvo

The name and assets of Silvo Hardware Co., the Rolling Meadows, IL-based owner of the Silvo Home & Garden catalog, was sold on March 2 to Creative Catalogs Corp. Silvo had filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection in January.

Creative Catalogs, which also owns the Personal Creations catalog, will operate Silvo out of Personal Creations’ Burr Ridge, IL, headquarters. The company plans to mail its first Silvo catalog in early April and to relaunch the Website this spring.

"Silvo fits perfectly into our business and offers a counterseasonal balance to our Personal Creations business," Creative Catalogs president/CEO John Semmelhack said in a statement. “With our expertise in direct and Internet marketing, and our strong operation, we have a great opportunity to grow the Silvo business."
