Allow guest registration
Customers hate filling out forms and requiring all customers to fill out a registration when shopping on your page is a very popular reason for cart abandonment. Having a client fill out an information form is appealing for retailers, according to Econsultancy, it gives you the data you want and having cards stored on file could me a better chance of repeat purchases. But for the customer it looks like a time waster.
“Ideally retailers should bit the bullet and allow customers to make a quick, anonymous purchase using a guest checkout, but there are also tactics that can be used to get customers to register without even realizing it,” according to Econsultancy.
The article recommends instead having a lengthy information page, have new customers register an account that asks for only a password, contact name, and email address. This will not only save the customer time, but also give the retailer the valuable email address for marketing purposes.
