Having video on your ecommerce site is the perfect selling tool, it not only will boost conversion rates, but also customer satisfaction, according to Dr. Melody King, vice president of marketing and sales for Treepodia.
King, who spoke to Multichannel Merchant said a video can also give the consumer a quick and simple way to view the product online without the information overload.
According to King, it is important the video be of good quality and is helpful. The video should have good content the user cares about.
Other elements needed for a solid video on an ecommerce site, according to King, includes having instances of visual texts in the video, which help the conversion rate increase into the double digits. Product ratings and reviews on the video are also important.
Merchants are placing product videos on YouTube, Facebook and optimizing for Google to broaden the customer reach. Retailers are also focusing their energy on upload videos to and, according to King, receiving more traffic than Facebook, LinkedIn, and Google+ combined, King said.
According to King, merchants are realizing that having a static image on their product pages just won’t cut it. This holiday season there is a big rush to add video to the product page and utilize the space in a more powerful way.
It doesn’t matter if you are a retailer with thousands of SKUs or 5 in your inventory, according to King, video needs to be included in your ecommerce plan.
