Shipping costs are one of the largest bottom line expenses for direct-to-customer merchants. But how do you know when you should negotiate with your carrier for better terms and rates?

In this video taken at Operations Summit 2014, BuyAutoParts.com president and COO Matt Glauber says you need to be diligent and persistent when negotiating with carriers, whether they are existing or potential.

“When you think it’s time to take a break from negotiating is probably when you should be bearing down and focusing more on your negotiations,” Glauber says.
