When it was started in 2007, the idea of Free Shipping Day was kind of a big deal, says ChannelAdvisor founder and CEO Scot Wingo.
Now, free shipping is more the exception than a special offer. Wingo says Amazon has trained consumers that they’re going to get not just free shipping, but fast free shipping, all the time. And that’s why Wingo says in this video that Free Shipping Day has become a thing of the past.
And as big-volume of a holiday ecommerce sales day today should be, Wingo says he expects today to be the calm before the store. Wingo expects the holiday ecommerce sales uptick to begin tomorrow (Dec. 18), and pick up over the weekend and into Monday.
