You can thank the iPhone and its bigger screens, in part, for the growth of mobile commerce in the 2015 holiday season. But, the iPhone 6 and the 6+ were only part of the mobile commerce growth story, said ChannelAdvisor Executive Chairman Scot Wingo during a break at NRF Big Show 2016.
New payment systems are really helping people shop online more seamlessly, like Apple Pay, PayPal has a one-click kind of solution. And the apps make it easier to buy things. Wingo pointed out that you don’t have to flip through and scan in to see the pictures, and that retail apps have become much more responsive. The design and feel is also much friendlier for shopping.
“There’s just a general adoption of ecommerce on phones and people are getting more comfortable shopping on them,” Wingo said. “Retailers are going mobile-first – they themselves are consuming the content and acting like a shopper on the phone. That’s just going to result in a better customer experience.”
