Target and TOMS Join Forces to Give Back this Holiday Season

Well this is exciting – shoe and apparel brand TOMS and Target are teaming up for a limited-edition holidays collection, with a generous twist. Every Target and TOMS limited edition product a customer buys, the company is giving shoes, a blanket or meals to those in need, beginning Nov. 16.

 

According to a press release from Target, Kathee Tesija, executive vice president and chief merchandising and supply chain officer for Target, surprised 14,000 Target team members with the news of the partnership at Target’s annual meeting in Minneapolis.

Tesija said this holiday partnership with TOMS is the “perfect marriage of both brands’ core values.” This includes great design that is accessible to everyone and a commitment to giving back.

“We’re excited to partner with Target for the holidays and take TOMS’ One for One giving model further than ever before,” said Blake Mycoskie, TOMS founder and chief shoe giver. “Every purchase allows Target’s guests to bring home a beautifully designed product and do good, providing nourishment, warmth and shoes to a person in need.”

I have seen more partnerships like this, where brands come together throughout the year and promote their products together. What I have always enjoyed about TOMS is the giving back factor. For every pair of TOMS shoes sold, a pair of shoes is given to a person in need. So I knew my purchase was making a difference in the world, small as it was.

I’ve also seen more brands giving back to the community, providing a very small-town mom and pop store feel to a company’s culture, especially during the holiday season.

I love that these two major brands are announcing an exclusive product line, because there are so many consumers that love them – and their commitment to helping those in need fits in nicely with the overall holiday spirit.
