What a difference a year makes. J.C. Penney, which faced customer backlash, slumping sales, and the stepping down of CEO Ron Johnson, has now become one of the top online shopping destinations for back-to-school sales.

Wayfair.com Acquires DwellStudio

Wayfair.com, an online home furnishing retailer, has announced the acqusition of lifestyle retailer DwellStudio for an undisclosed amount of money. Wayfair.com said the acquisition not only adds product design and development to the brand portfolio but also means the possibility of new product lines by the end of 2013.

Hudson’s Bay Acquires Saks

Hudson’s Bay Company announced on July 29 the acquisition of Saks, valued at $2.9 billion or $16 a share, according to a press release from Sak’s Fifth Avenue. Hudson’s Bay Company also owns Lord & Taylor and Home Outfitters.

Consumers Want Faster Online Shopping

Survey results released today show that over four in ten (44 percent) consumers would shop more online if it were faster to make a purchase, while nearly three-quarters (72 percent) agree that the overall experience of surfing the web could be better.

Netsuite Sees 35% Increase in Second Quarter

NetSuite Inc. announced its second quarter financial results which show a 35% increase over the same period in the prior year. Cash flows from operations were $15.6 million in the second quarter of 2013, up from $15.2 million in the same period in the prior year.
