CATALOG AGE has learned that Hamburg, Germany-based off-price apparel and home goods cataloger Bon Prix will discontinue its U.S. operations in July. The last catalog was mailed in late April; orders will be taken until the end of June. The Bon Prix Website, which is promoting clearance merchandise at discounts of about 50% off, specifies that all sales are final if items are not returned by Sept. 30.
A subsidiary of German catalog giant Otto Versand, Bon Prix does not have a physical presence in the U.S. Rather, another Otto subsidiary based in the U.S.–the beleagured Downer’s Grove, IL-based general merchandiser Spiegel–was taking Bon Prix phone orders and processing returns from its Groveport, OH-based facility.
