Comerford Will Replace Departing Kanter at Moosejaw

Outdoors sporting goods and apparel merchant Moosejaw Mountaineering wasted no time in replacing president and CEO Harvey Kanter, who accepted the same role with ecommerce jewelry seller Blue Nile on Monday.

Moosejaw announced yesterday that Eoin Comerford, who has been the company’s senior vice president of technology and marketing since 2008, has been promoted to the top spot.

At Moosejaw, Comerford was critical in a number of innovations, including a true multichannel retail platform, mobile point-of-sale checkout in Moosejaw shops and a fully functional mobile version of the ecommerce site, Moosejaw.com.

As soon as Kanter announced his decision, the Moosejaw board followed a pre-planned succession plan to move Comerford to president and CEO, Moosejaw social media and public relations coordinator Kristin Wood wrote in an email.

Wood wrote that Moosejaw has already begun the search to for a new head of marketing.

Meanwhile, Kanter will start work with Blue Nile on Monday. He replaces Diane Irvine, who stepped down in November after Blue Nile announced its net income for the quarter was down 33% from the prior year.

Interim CEO Vijay Talwar has been appointed Blue Nile’s general manager and president of international, and will lead Blue Nile’s international business.
