FedEx Ground, the Federal Express ground delivery subsidiary, announced on Sept. 17 that it had opened 50 new FedEx Home Delivery terminals to reach “virtually” the entire U.S. population with its home delivery service. The Pittsburgh-based FedEx Home Delivery directly competes with United Parcel Service’s ground service used by many catalogers and online retailers.
“With a fully expanded network and unmatched service options, FedEx Home Delivery has significant growth potential,” said FedEx Ground president/CEO Daniel Sullivan in a statement. “In the past year alone, the number of shippers has tripled to our current customer base of more than 22,000.”
