Sterling Numbers at Schein
Medical, dental, and veterinary supplies marketer Henry Schein (Nasdaq NM: HSIC) said fourth-quarter sales increased 7%, to $747.4 million from $698.3 million the previous year. Dental sales increased 11% on a comparable basis, while medical sales increased 15% on a comparable basis. International sales rose 13%. Net income increased 14%, to $31.0 million.
For 2002, Melville, NY-based Schein reported record net sales of $2.83 billion, a 10% increase from 2001. Net income for the year increased 23%, to $118.0 million, also a company record.
Chico’s Sets 4Q, Annual Earnings Records Fort Myers, FL-based women’s apparel cataloger/retailer Chico’s FAS (NYSE: CHS) capped off a strong year in style. For the year ended Feb. 1, it posted record income $66.8 million, up 58% from net income of $42.2 million for fiscal 2001. Net sales for the 12 months increased 41%, to $531 million from $378 million.
For the fourth quarter ended Feb. 1, net income rose 53%, to a record $ 15.0 million. Net sales climbed 36%, to $138 million.
