Pop singer Pink had a hit in 2002 with “Get the Party Started.” And it seems Rye, NY-based Lillian Vernon Corp. is heeding that advice. The cataloger has licensed its name to a home-party business, Everyday Celebrations.
The first Celebrations by Lillian Vernon party took place the week of Oct. 4 in Pittsburgh; Douglaston, NY; and Peru, IN.
Lillian Vernon spokesperson David Hochberg calls Celebrations a “career opportunity” for women who wish to work from home. The party consultants receive a base commission of 25% of sales from each party they host. The starter kit, which includes display products, order forms, business supplies, and training materials, costs consultants $199. So far more than 320 consultants have signed on.
Though there is a catalog involved in Celebrations, it is not mailed, Hochberg says. “The catalog is primarily a tool at the home party.”
The new home-party business is part of a series of changes for Lillian Vernon. It also has a new logo and a revamped Website. And come January it will have a new home: White Plains, NY—just down the road from its current headquarters.
