Sephora to Open a New Distribution Center in Maryland

sephora_store_frontBeauty retailer Sephora America is expected to open a new distribution center in Perryman, MD, just outside of Baltimore.

While Sephora has not issued a statement on the new facility, CBRE Industrial Service, who negotiated the lease, said in a release that the new “state-of-the-art build-to-suit facility” is currently under construction and expected to be 655,800 square feet.

Sephora, according to the release, is expected to add 200 full-time jobs to support its expansion into the region. The new distribution center should be up and running by May 2014.

Sephora, which was founded in France in 1970, operates approximately 1,300 stores in 27 countries worldwide, with an expanding base of over 300 stores across North America. The retailer opened its first U.S. store in New York in 1998, followed by its first Canadian store in Toronto in 2004.

Sephora launched Sephora.com in the U.S. in 1999 and Canada in 2003. The company states that that ecommerce site is “Sephora’s largest North American store in terms of sales and selection of products and brands.”
