Outdoor gear and general merchandise cataloger The Sportsman’s Guide (Nasdaq: SGDE) expects to report total sales of approximately $37 million and net earnings per share of $0.04-$0.05 for the third quarter ended Sept. 30. Consensus estimate of the two analysts who follow Sportsman’s Guide is $0.04 per share. In the comparable period last year, Sportsman’s Guide posted $36.5 million in sales and a net loss of $0.03 per share.
“We are very pleased with the results of the quarter-results we achieved despite softness in the broad economy,” president/CEO Gregory R. Binkley said in a statement. “A more focused catalog mail plan, significant growth in Internet sales as a percentage of total sales and the accompanying lower cost of order processing continue to be the primary reasons for our improving profitability.”
