As catalogers gear up for what they hope is a spending spree generated by tax rebate checks (see story on page 6), one industry supplier began reaping the benefits of the refunds before the checks even mailed. Englewood, CO-based Mail-Well, a commercial printer specializing in envelopes, is supplying the U.S. government with the envelopes for mailing the rebate checks. In July, the Department of the Treasury ordered more than 47 million envelopes to issue the tax rebates and was expected to order at least another 16 million. The company’s Cleveland and Chicago plants are handling the massive order.
