In June the U.S. Supreme Court handed down its landmark South Dakota vs. Wayfair decision. By overturning the 1992 Quill ruling the high court tossed out the concept of physical location for determining nexus that requires sales tax collection. With their world turned upside down, ecommerce merchants everywhere are asking “now what?”
As individual states figure out what kind of thresholds to set for merchants and the federal government considers broader legislation, we’ll look at the issue front to back. Tax experts from Vertex will help you understand the broader implications of Wayfair and what to do in response.
