FedEx Ground Building New Distribution Center in South Carolina

FedEx_Ground_TruckA new 254,000-square-foot FedEx Ground distribution center is coming to South Carolina, according to goupstate.com, a local news website.

The new distribution center, which the article states sits on 59-acres of land, is a $40 million investment for the shipping company and is expected to create 22 full-time and 219 part-time jobs at the facility.

While FedEx declined to comment, the article states that “sources familiar with the project” said the new distribution center will be a “fully-automated small package” distribution center, including “state-of-the-art” sorting and shipping equipment.

The center, according to the article, is expected to begin operations in 2015.

According to the article, FedEx now joins the list of major retailers building fulfillment facilities in the region, including BMW, Adidas, and Amazon.
