Jeremy Nicholds is CEO of Judopay, the leading enabler of mobile web and app commerce, helping companies across multiple sectors serve customers with a better way to pay. Jeremy was an Executive Director at Visa where he drove mass market adoption of NFC mobile payments across multiple markets, and led the launch of compelling new propositions like Apple Pay. Before that, he led Visa’s commercial and business development activities across Europe, working extensively with Europe’s major banks. Jeremy also held roles at Mastercard, including SVP, Sales and Marketing, and NatWest, where he headed up its consumer card business.

Smartphones are so ubiquitous that checkout-less stores taking mobile payments are now a possibility. Most stores, however, are still card- and cash-centric, and will be for a long time. Now open banking technology has created the possibility for direct account-to-account transfers from customer to retailer. This is more resistant to fraud and, crucially for retailers, less expensive per transaction.
