Hiking gear for my cat? No kitten? Nope, April Fool’s!
Cats were the butt of several online April Fool’s pranks today online: Vimeo became Vimeow (an all cat video site), Sony introduced headphones for cats, and the U.S. Army announced a program for cats.
And cross-channel merchant REI let the cat out of the bag (ha ha) with the introduction of REI Adventure Kitten Gear.
So, just how much do you love hiking with your cat? Does Mittens deserve a Lil’ Bandana for $11?
Does Tiger need a pair of Burly Wool Kitten Socks ($10.50) to go with his Rugged Kitten Boots ($130)?
Is Oscar big enough for the “Wild Cat” Kitten Pack ($169), or do you need to carry his kibble and catnip for him?
Wayfair.com got in the the April Fool’s Day fun as well, with its new line of furniture.
Wayfair’s HydroRoom is based on co-founder Steve Conine’s childhood love of those little sponge dinosaur toys that come packed in small capsules and expand when put in water.

Tiger Direct also got in on the April Fool’s Shenanigans. Though the subject line of yesterday’s TigerDirect.com email read “No Joke: New 46″ TV $349 | Samsung Blu-ray $39 | 1TB HD $59,” the electronics retailer did sprinkle in some Tom Foolery.
For example, you could pre-order a Smell-O-Vision, and add the sense of smell to your television-viewing experience. Using NASA and Dr. Scholl’s SMALLIT technology, you can enjoy the scent of a starlet’s favorite perfume, or the intoxicating scent of nitro methane during a drag race.
And there’s the Tri-Notebook, a pyramid-shaped notebook computer… which I think I’ve seen used as an April Fool’s gag product before. Wait, I got that wrong, I’m thinking of the triangle-shaped tablet from The Office.
