Amazon is said to be considering an acquisition of Office Depot’s corporate business assets in order to jumpstart its nascent Amazon Business office supply operation, according to a report in the New York Post.
Separately, the report said Amazon has also been considering a bid for W.B. Mason, the third-largest office supply company.
It’s also believed that Office Depot and Staples are close to clearing all regulatory hurdles preventing their merger, the Post reported. It has been blocked to date by the Federal Trade Commission, citing anti-competitive concerns. The Amazon deal would be contingent on the merger being approved.
