Erin Lynch
November 7, 2012

Kid’s birthday party retailer Birthday in a Box took to its Facebook page to update customers and fans on the damages sustained to its office and warehouse during Superstorm Sandy. Though the company lists its address in Gaithersburg, MD, a contact center representative confirmed the damage occurred in Edison, NJ.

Birthday in a Box also posted several pictures on Facebook showing the flooded office and destroyed product inventory. According to its Facebook posts, Birthday in a Box’s corporate offices and warehouse were flooded with over four feet of water.

Birthday in a Box confirmed on its Facebook page that it is still determining the extent of the damage, and that almost everything was lost in the flood.

“Without electricity or computers, it will take us at least a few more days to get running,” Birthday in a Box wrote. “While all of our staff and employees are safe, our office is currently closed for business but will be reopening soon.”

Due to the extent of the damage, the retailer’s website also states that it cannot accept any new orders at this time and for those that already placed orders they should expect a 14 day processing time.
