The mobile email open rate over Cyber Week, which includes tablets and smartphones, jumped to 50% over 2011, according to a report conducted by Knotice.
The report, which looked at 2.85 million emails sent out by retailers from Nov. 20 to 26, found that there was a “50% increase in emails opened” on a mobile device compared to last year. The report also found that 44.76% of all emails were opened on a mobile device (phones and/or tablets) which is up from 30.50% in 2011.
Mobile emails, Knotice said in the report, “continue to outpace those occurring on tablets.” It also stated found that “tablet use is currently gaining ground since [an] earlier report with mobile phones representing 25.85% of all email opens and tablets 10.16%”
The iPhone and iPad, according to the report, remains the most popular devices for opening email, with the iPhone netting 23.93% of opens, and the iPad 15.81%.
