Birmingham, AL—Saks’s Folio catalog division may be saved from the chopping block—by being put on the selling block. Although the department-store chain announced in August that it would close Folio by the end of the year, CATALOG AGE has learned that Saks is now exploring a sale of the $100 million high-end women’s apparel business. Princeton, NJ-based investment bank Tucker Alexander is working with the company on the sale.
The deal does not include Saks’s Bullock & Jones men’s apparel catalog. Buyers from the now-shuttered Folio home furnishings and men’s clothing books are also among the names in the house file. Though Saks has is mailing Folio catalogs for the fall/holiday season, if no buyer is found by February, then Saks will proceed with its original plan to scrap the business.
