The Schweitzer Linen catalog has sold luxury linens, upscale bedding accessories, and women’s nightwear for more than 35 years, but only for the past few years has the apparel collection had a catalog of its own. Robert Schweitzer, owner of the New York-based business, says the nightwear and loungewear collection outgrew its place in the back of the core catalog and now warrants a 32-page standalone book, Schweitzer Linen Night Wear.
Last year the company printed about 900,000 nightwear catalogs. “We’re in growing stages,” Schweitzer says. “We have a nice customer base buying linens from us, and the objective is to sell to that customer base. We first had a small digest-size catalog, and we’ve moved to a full-size catalog. We’re going forward so we’re encouraged. The nightwear is also on our Website. We’re still experimenting. It’s a nice thing for us.”
Organized by collection, items include pajamas ($90-$175) and nightgowns ($90-$190). A selection of after-bath and before-bed robes ($100-$325) completes the apparel line. Product descriptions are lengthy and vivid. For example, the Calais short gown is described as “a flirtatious flare of fine 100% silk,” and the Lindsay imported pajama is “too chic to wear only in the dark of night.”
