DJO, a Global Provider of Medical Device Solutions for musculoskeletal health, vascular health and pain management, sold the rehabilitation equipment and supply catalog business of its Empi division.
Empi Therapy Solutions (ETS) was bought by Patterson Medical, a division of Patterson Cos., which serves the medical, dental, rehabilitation, and veterinary supplies market. Empi is a manufacturer/provider of medical products for pain management and physical rehabilitation. Formerly known as Rehab Medical Equipment, or RME, ETS generated sales of about $32 million in 2008.
DJO spokesperson Mark Francois says the ETS business is low-margin and mostly non-DJO branded products, “so it is not a core business for DJO or Empi. The sale will enable Empi’s overall margins to improve.”
