Sparks, NV-based apparel manufacturer/marketer Sportif USA is going after women on the go with its new Aventura Clothing catalog and apparel line. “We like to think of this new line as a tribute to the soccer mom who is going a million miles per hour every day,” says vice president/general manager Doug Moir.
The company dropped about 200,000 copies of the 48-page Aventura catalog in April to customers and names from co-op databases Abacus and NextAction. Aventura sells what Moir describes as “decidedly unfussy” apparel. Prices range from $10 for Teva thong sandals to $55 for a long wrap skirt.
The Aventura line was designed to trigger impulse catalog purchases by offering relatively low priced items. “Our average purchase price is around $45, so our customers aren’t generally breaking the bank,” Moir says.
Aventura also complement Sportif’s Waterfronts catalog of nautical-inspired apparel and gifts. The 40-year-old Sportif USA has been mailing catalogs since 1992, but the bulk of its sales come from wholesaling.
Moir will not release any financial results at this point, but he is confident that the new catalog will augment Sportif’s business. “We will continue to develop new styles, prints and colors every season for this line. It’s imperative that the line always be ‘fresh’ and fun to the consumer,” Moir says.
