Target is attempting to do what so many ecommerce companies have been trying to do but failed: turning Facebook followers in Facebook buyers.
Target recently unveiled its Cartwheel program, which allows followers to browse through a series of discounts and store coupons exclusively on the social media site, and have the option to either print them out or send them to their mobile device in the form of a bar code. Shoppers can then use these discounts at a bricks-and-mortar Target store.
The beta program began on May 8, and according to Newsday, “The service will initially be advertised on Target’s website, through Facebook and in emails to Target’s best shoppers and card holders.”
According to a release issued by Target, offers may be used multiple times until it expires and savings will vary from 5 to 25%.
