Networking products and services cataloger Black Box Corp. is trying to make the world a little safer with the products featured in its 260-page security products spin-off. The catalog includes current and new Black Box products designed to protect physical assets, networks, and workplaces. It mailed to 100,000 customers and prospects on Oct. 26.
Lawrence, PA-based Black Box began working on the catalog three months ago after recognizing the necessity of securing networks and workplaces. “Security is a much hotter topic inthe world today, from both a network and a physical perspective,” says director of marketing Julie Lyda. “It made sense given the technology industry we’re in. Being a leader, we want to be the source they go to.”
Black Box’s security catalog features approximately 1,500 SKUs that will make up a new security section in the company’s next core catalog. The security catalog will mail annually. Prospects were drawn from subscriber files of security magazines and membership lists of security associations. E-mail blasts, online catalog requests and advertisements in “Cabling Installation and Maintenance” magazine rounded out Black Box’s prospecting efforts.
