CATALOG AGE has learned New York-based toy cataloger/retailer FAO Schwarz is planning a major fall catalog drop to hit mailboxes on Aug. 30.—its first mailing since it was bought in January by private equity firm D.E. Shaw Group. The legendary toy company is planning on mailing an estimated 4 million copies.
New York-based D. E. Shaw paid $20 million for Schwarz’s catalog and online operations, its flagship store on New York’s Fifth Avenue, and a store in Las Vegas.
FAO Schwarz did not return calls by press time.
