Medfield, MA-based Potpourri Holdings, whose 10 catalogs include needlecrafts title The Stitchery and gifts books Serengeti and Back in the Saddle, is looking for a buyer. With Miami-based majority owner HIG Capital Management, the $125 million cataloger has hired investment banking firm Goldsmith Agio Helms to orchestrate the sale process.
“We acquired Potpourri in 1998 with a specific strategy and plan in mind. We have executed the plan and have exceeded our goals,” HIG Capital managing director John Bolduc said in a statement. “Sales and profits have grown each year, including 2001, which was one of the most difficult in the history of direct marketing.”
The cataloger, which owns the Potpourri gifts title, acquired seven catalogs during the past four years, including In the Company of Dogs and multititle mailer Catalog Ventures.
