Mike Muoio, who served as president of Oshkosh, WI-based cards, gifts, and housewares cataloger Miles Kimball, resigned from his position last week.
“It’s time I struck out on my own,” says Muoio. “I’m very proud of what I accomplished here, but after 13-plus years at Miles Kimball, I really do need to climb the next mountain.” Muoio had been with Miles Kimball since 1992 and helped grow sales about $130 million during his time there. Muoio was at the helm of Miles Kimball when it was acquired by manufacturer/marketer Blyth in 2003. As operational president of Blyth’s catalog and Internet channels, he oversaw the incorporation of Walter Drake as a division of Miles Kimball following Blyth’s acquisition of the rival mailer in January 2004.
Muoio isn’t leaving the direct marketing industry, however. “Being able to act in more of a consultant capacity is something I look forward to,” he says. “To work on a project basis in an on-again/off-again role would be ideal.”
