China’s recent move to boost its cross-border ecommerce capabilities will be one focus in this year’s Growing Global conference, taking place July 21-22 in Hollywood.
“U.S.-based ecommerce merchants need to be aware of changing policies and procedures in China, in order to be equipped to sell online to the growing Chinese middle class,” said Tim Parry, Managing Editor of Multichannel Merchant, producers of Growing Global. “We’re bringing Growing Global to Hollywood next month to help companies get up to speed on the potential that the global ecommerce marketplace brings, including China.”
In a keynote presentation, Sherri Wu, Alibaba Group’s Head of International Ecommerce Business Development, Americas and Vice GM of Cross-Border Business will deliver “5 Things to Know About the Chinese Customer,” which will delve into:
- How Singles Day became the world’s largest online shopping event, easily dwarfing Black Friday
- How the rise of the middle class is fueling China’s ecommerce and mobile commerce
- Why marketplaces have become the dominant ecommerce sales channel of choice in China
- How to best capture the attention, and wallet, of the Chinese consumer
James Eron, COO and Co-Founder of Kung-Fu Data, will lead a discussion on what to consider when building your cross-border strategy in China, including key demographics, the impact of regulations, customer behavior and expectations, and who to work with in country.
Over two days, Growing Global offers sessions and facilitated roundtables designed to provide hands-on examples and strategic guidance to help merchants drive direct-to-customer and omnichannel operations to greater efficiency and profitability.
