Outdoor specialty retailer Gander Mountain announced today that Ron Stoupa has joined the company as Senior Vice President of Marketing and Ecommerce, and will lead all marketing and ecommerce functions, including brand development, customer engagement and omnichannel initiatives.
“Ron’s extensive background in leading the development and marketing of major national brands, coupled with his unique experience in omnichannel development, customer segmentation and marketing analytics will enable him to drive continued growth at Gander Mountain,” said Gander Mountain President Derek Siddons. “At Gander Mountain, we bring outdoor enthusiasts the gear they need to get back outside, and with Ron’s experience, we will deepen our focus on brand and product differentiation and customer segmentation to strengthen our brand.”
Most recently, Stoupa was Executive Vice President, Chief Marketing Officer and Chief Digital Officer of Sports Authority, the big-box sporting goods and apparel merchant that recently went out of business after filing for Chapter 11 protection. Stoupa joined Sports Authority in January 2015.
According to Stoupa’s LinkedIn profile, his main objective at Sports Authority was to be an agent of change to create an omnichannel company that was well positioned to serve its core customers. Stoupa oversaw all marketing and ecommerce functions and managed a team of 156 team members in addition to 20+ agency partners. Stoupa’s core responsibilities were to provide strategic direction to and profit and loss ownership of a $200+ million ecommerce business and a $140+ million marketing program.
Stoupa brings Gander Mountain more than 25 years of experience with Sports Authority, The Pep Boys Inc., Bass Pro Shops, and other nationally-recognized brands. His vast background includes strategic planning, customer segmentation, insights and analytics, optimizing marketing mix structures, ecommerce strategy, digital and traditional marketing.

Stoupa holds a Masters of Business Administration from the University of Texas and a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from the University of Nebraska. In his free time, Stoupa is an avid outdoorsman and enjoys spending time with his family.
