Scot Wingo Resigns as ChannelAdvisor’s CEO

scot-wingo-300Scot Wingo resigned as CEO of ChannelAdvisor, the company he co-founded in 1999, on April 28, according to an 8-K filing made today with the Securities and Exchange Commission. The announcement, however, was not made until after ChannelAdvisor released its first-quarter 2015 financial results.

ChannelAdvisor’s Board of Directors has appointed David Spitz, the company’s president and COO, as its new CEO. Wingo, who served as CEO since 2001, has been appointed Executive Chairman.

Wingo said in a press release that he will remain “closely involved in driving ChannelAdvisor’s role in the complex ecommerce industry both internally and externally, and making further contributions to our products and strategy in my new role.”

Spitz said he is committed to the long-term success of ChannelAdvisor and looks forward to expanding on the leadership position it has established in the marketplace.”

ChannelAdvisor’s total revenue of $22.6 million for the first quarter of 2015 increased 17 percent compared with total revenue of $19.3 million for the first quarter of 2014.

Though Wingo is a regular in social media and the twittersphere, he did not make mention of his resignation as CEO, or his new role with the company. Wingo did, however, appear to have a great Star Wars Day, according to these tweets:
