Play ball! Major league umpires weren’t the only ones bellowing the phrase this week. It was also heard at Bethel, CT-based Star Struck, which is mailing two baseball catalogs this spring.
In addition to its the eponymous catalog of sport paraphernalia, on March 11 Star Struck launched a catalog devoted entirely to one team: the New York Mets.
“We’ve never done a separate catalog devoted to a team before, so we didn’t know how it was going to turn out,” says Jason Scheets, director of operations/sports director. The 24-page Mets catalog sells autographed memorabilia as well as car magnets, tire covers, streets signs, and apparel– “basically, anything that says Mets on it,” Scheets says.
The company will also mail the 16-page Cooperstown Collection catalog at the end of April or the beginning of May. A relaunch of a title that’s been on hiatus for two year, Cooperstown Collection sells retro-style jerseys and caps. Among the most interesting fare: the bright orange, yellow, and white 1980s home uniforms of Houston Astros, reproduction Brooklyn Dodgers jerseys, and the Milwaukee Brewers’ ball-in-the-glove hats worn by the franchise from 1978 to 1989.
